Crowdsourcing

Referring back to article on Crowdsourcing by Jeff Howe

The idea sounds very appealing especially for IT related businesses. Using idle resources of people could be beneficial for companies from so many perspectives that it is almost inevitable that crowdsourcing will become popular in a near future. Benefits:

  • reduction of cost of rare resources (qualified people),
  • reduction of hiring and firing cost,
  • increased flexibility in managing resources
  • increased potential of the organization

Cost:

  • potential decrease in motivation of employees
  • potential loss of the quality of service
  • increased cost of managing crowdsourced projects
  • potential increased risk

Google’s Giant Computing Center

This computing center is as big as two footbal fields and it has cooling towers four stories high. Whatever happened to distributed computing man, a giant computing center such as this on one location!!! Does it sound risky?

Welcome Post

Welcome to IdeaSource.

The idea behind IdeaSource came from the discussion between Bhavik Pathak and me on Wednesday June 14 2006. Bhavik and I noticed that many interesting ideas that we have are lost because we either never note them down or never review them with our peers.

IdeaSource will focus on inovative business practices and new technologies that could both become a potential source of academic research and further expand business innovation.

With regards,

Bartosz Krolczyk
